Starting today, OpenPLi 3.0 will no longer default to mount USB sticks and similar devices as "/media/usb". Instead, it uses the LABEL of the disk as mount point name. This is similar to what Ubuntu does when you insert a stick.

The result may be that your USB device is no longer available on the spot where it used to be, in particular when using it for recording this may be a nuisance.

On the bright side, it can make mounting multiple USB disks much easier. Examples:

- A factory-formatted sandisk stick will probably be mounted as "SANDISK" or something similar.
- To have your USB disk mounted as /media/hdd, just label the disk "hdd" (use tune2fs to set the label of an EXT2/3/4 formatted disk).
- If you have a red USB stick, plug in in a Windows PC and rename it to "Red". Insert it into the box and it will appear as /media/Red.

If you upgraded this morning, there is a problem with labels containing spaces, resulting in the device not being mounted at all. You can work around it by renaming the disk to something without spaces. Builds are running, so in an hour or so, the problem should be gone.

Milo,

What about when you have picons on an USB stick?

Of this innovation, users and developers will be a lot of problems ...
It would be better to go back ...

I think the common user will be difficult.

and the previous way with editing fstab etc. was more user friendly? I don't think so...
but if someone still likes it more - then what's the problem?

If fstab has nothing to say, use the LABEL as a mount point name.

You can just put the Mount Manager and mount as you need it.
Many plugins and skins will have to adapt to the new system mounts.
I think this will bring more inconvenience for developers and users :(

BackupSuite, setPicon, Piconloader...some plug-ins and skins (or modification) of Russian authors with whom you may not know ...
However, these examples, it is unlikely that anything will change now

Backup Suite is already fixed. Version 10.5 works fine with new mount options.

Due to insufficient knowledge of English, I can not explain to you the problem, perhaps someone can explain them better than I do.

Hi guys,

my vu+ duo still won;t mount my usb stick, even after I've used tune2fs -L to change the label to usb. It's detected ok, but just won't mount. Have to do it manually... Anyone else experiencing such problems?

This can hardly be related to mdev-mount.sh, as that only handles block devices.

what does dmesg say when you unplug / plug it?
