I'm tryinjg to get a dm500s to be my card reader and server and emm updater. I use skyuk. I've thought of a couple of ways to do it, but i always seem to come upon a stumbling block. I'd like the dreambox to read the card, get the emm's on its own and be the server. I thought about newcs+cccam but that doesn't seem to update the emm's on its own, thought about oscam but its not available in the download section, thought about newcs+mgcamd but not sure if mgcamd is capable of being a cccam server. so what can i do in my situation? whats the best option? its not required for viewing purposes its just intended to be a server.

You thought about oscam, did you thought of installing it manually? There is an explanation on wiki about installing softcams on E1 (if I am not wrong)

thats really weird, why would such a popular softcam not be available for download, is it because of me?!? not sure i wanna go on another mission impossible... o0

Oscam is not in the downloads because there's no active development for Enigma1 anymore. We will only fix (some) bugs.

You can download and install it from the oscam website yourself. I posted a how-to a few weeks ago.

I would ask you to take care though, after the last update Oscam has fried my SKY card (chip completely dead). I assume it has had to do with the fact that the devs have been fiddling with clock speeds and overclocking. Appearantly the SKY card doesn't like that...

Just had a go, went through the maze and found this: oscam-svn7254-powerpc-tuxbox-old-webif-Distribution.tar on sat-universe forum, but as expected it doesn't install. this: powerpc-tuxbox-old seems to be the oscam aimed at dm500. placed it in /tmp and tried to install manually, but just gives an error unfortunatly.

Do you guys have or know of a version, a working version that works for pli or has someone got one backed up that their willing to share?

unfortunatly the one needed: powerpc-tuxbox-old i only saw it available in .rar format. And the other one available called slightly different in .tar.gz format didn't work.

So no ones got a link or anything?

I have a 7000, I wouldn't know why that wouldn't work on a 500, you can always true it.

An oscam binary for the DM7000 should work on a DM500 too. Oscam for the DM600 or DM7020 may not work on a DM500.

I don't get why such an important softcam is not included in the downloads sections on the image, oscam is the future of cardsharing, is it not? Surely there should be at least one download option for oscam on enigma 1. DAF2000, so you said that it wasn't included in the downloads because there was no active support for enigma 1, so why are newcs (dead) & cccam (dead) both available for download and no support for either and no future?!? Their both dead but still included, the only one that is still active isn't working or included... surely there should be at least one working version of oscam on there. Unless u guys havent got it working on a dm500 yet?

yeah dm500 is dead but it doesn't mean people just stoped using them, their still one of the most used boxes and still have uses even though their out dated...

but of course if there is no support there is no support, one must move on

Because oscam wasn't even written yet when we developed the Enigma1 software. Newcs and CCcam were the softcams to use at that moment.
Anyway, as you see it's quite difficult to get a working oscam. You've found an oscam (the 2 links you posted). Why doesn't it work? Do you get any error message?

it just doesnt install, installation failed or something of the sort, it shows the space that the installation needs and there is way more than needed. when u then go into the remove section the oscam is there but seems to be in the same condition as the .tar.gz zip and not as the installed oscam.

A .tar.gz file is just a compressed file (just as a zip file) and may even not install on a PLi image. Can you upload that file here?
