Hm, I'm not too keen on having to download a 18.4GB torrent, just for a 10 minute playback.

how can I do that?

If you have Windows OS you can try this software: http://www.solveigmm...vi-trimmer-mkv/

Try to cut 15 minutes, and check if this is happenning also on the 15 minutes sample.

I've downloaded the first 2GB of the film (around 15 minutes) and I can reproduce the crash. With srt file memory usage increases until all memory is consumed. Then spinner is shown and short afterwards e2 restarts. This takes around 10 minutes.
Without srt file memory usage only increases lightly. After 15 minutes around 400m VSZ (taken from top) is used.

Only the mkv (not the srt file!) includes 15 subs!!

But the big question is why.... After the last subtitle changes all subtitels are kept in memory indexed on timestamp...

do you have to select the subtitle track, in order to get this problem?
Or does it already leak when you don't enable subtitles, but just have the srt file in place?

Subtitles are enabled by default if srt file is present. Or did I activate it?? Don't think so.

I did only test with srt file (Arabic subs were visible) and without srt file with German subs (included in mkv). With German subs there was no problem (perhaps a very little memory leak).

I think it's the default setting.

I've cut just 19 min to make a sample and no problem happening the simple just work fine with my external srt no stop no spinner no hung!
the only difference is when i select (subtitle selection) there no more subs include just the external one

As far as I know it's not possible. Littlesat can correct me.
You can only use external program (like the cut tool you used) to remove the included subtitles.

yes, I've done it and everything is ok but this solution take 2-3 hour

maybe Littlesat can help to make this operation easier and faster for another mkv files which we (pli users) have

Hi junad,

unfortunately this is a gstreamer bug:

http://lists.freedes...ary/098252.html

https://bugzilla.gno...g.cgi?id=600648

And there is no patch available which solves the problem.

So the only way for you would be to delete the unnecessary subtitles in the mkv. Perhaps there is a faster solution for deleting subtitles. Did you try mkvmerge GUI?

With mkvmerge this should only take a few minutes...

Maybe if we use patch from Andreas Frisch on comment 25 with OpenPLi gstsubsink solves issue?

(although it seems that problem does not reside on gstsubsink/appsink, but it worth trying..)

I already looked at it ;)

The patch is already included in the current sources and seems not to work in this case:

To playback Apple Lossless Audio Codec (ALAC) files you can do this:

opkg install libtheora
opkg install libavcodec53
opkg install libavformat53

Afterwards unzip attached zip file and put the library in folder /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/

Then do this in telnet

chmod 755 /usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstffmpeg.so
rm /home/root/.gstreamer-0.10/registry.mipsel.bin

Warning: You need 10MB free space in flash!!

@Pli: There is already a bitbake file to create the libgstffmpeg file in openembedded-core/meta/recipes-multimedia/gstreamer/gst-ffmpeg_0.10.13.bb. If libav libraries are not present in your sysroot folder you need to build them first (bitbake files are also present for it).

Can you build the libgstffmpeg library and put it on your feeds? Then everybody can use it without big problems.

Unfortunately libtheora, libavcodec, libavformat and libavutil are not present in OpenPli 4 feed.

Yes, that would be nice! Also please apply the fix for 2.1 images (there are still users on 2.1 because of dm800).

@betacentauri, i think also by installing libgstffmpeg you are able to play WMA streams too ;)

(i did some testing using libgstffmpeg some time ago, i was thinking that you can play WMV with software decoding [what a fool i was] when i was using 2.1 without WMA/WMV support on my dm800se)

'opkg install libtheora' should be 'opkg install libtheora0'
