Hello there.
It is more than a month that the softcam manager does not work.
I choose to start or restart a softcam but that does not have any effect.
The same time i am logged in via telnet and running "ps" i can see that nothing changes.
Using the softcam.xxx scripts in init.d and commands start/stop/restart from telnet everything works like a charm.

I have removed and reinstalled the softcam manager plugin but nothing changed.
The scripts are all 755.

Anyone has a clue?

Regards.

you mean the Openpli's softcam manager, not some third party plugin?
what I've noticed some time ago, is that the key_green does not work,

but if you confirm with the [OK] button instead, everything works fine here (start / stop / restart)

Any. I've noticed this recently as well, but hadn't had time to report it yet.

When you do a "restart softcam" from the GUI menu (CCcam in my case), nothing happens, you have to restart manually.

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

small update

had to test it (I use softcam manager about once in half a year ;))
I use CCcam only
1. switching softcam from 'CCcam' to 'none' (and vice versa) > confirm with green > softcam restarts (stops/starts)
2. choosing 'restart softcam' > confirm with OK > softcam restarts
so everything more or less works here (only this green button at the 'restart softcam' option is a little confusing...)

There must be a problem as many people have reported it..If your using just one cam then you wont get to see the problem.Its switching from one to another.

Can we debug somehow the actions of softcam manager in order to find out what the problem is?

The solution is in creating own start scripts in /init.d . If all strange options we will remove, starting only binaries will work.

What strange options?
Have you altered your scripts and the softcam manager works?

Can you post a sample?

The softcam manager just sends a start/stop or restart to the softcam script. The softcam script is responsible for correctly handling those events. If they don't work (e.g. a softcam doesn't stop when asked to), it's the softcam or its script that needs adjusting.

Hi,

The way the different softcam script are written for each Softcam can lead to error.

Can I propose that each softcam launch script use this new script.

It use variables for the executable name and for the parameters, with this way of working there is no error possible in the script.

#!/bin/sh
# Define parameters here
# start-exe = executable to launch
# softcam_param = full command line parameters to pass to executable
softcam_exe="/usr/bin/oscam"
softcam_param="-b -r 2 -c /etc/tuxbox/config/oscam"
softcam_info="oscam"

remove_tmp ()
{
 [ -e /tmp/ecm.info ] && rm -rf /tmp/ecm.info
 [ -e /tmp/.oscam ] && rm -rf /tmp/.oscam
 [ -e /tmp/.console ] && rm -rf /tmp/.console
 [ -e /tmp/camd.socket ] && rm -rf /tmp/camd.socket
 }

 case "$1" in
start)
exec start-stop-daemon -S -x $softcam_exe -- $softcam_param
;;
stop)
exec start-stop-daemon -K -R 2 -x $softcam_exe &
sleep 3
ps | grep $softcam_exe | grep -v grep > /dev/null
if [ $? -eq 0 ]
then
killall -9 $softcam_exe 2>/dev/null
fi
sleep 2
remove_tmp
;;
 restart|reload)
$0 stop
sleep 4
$0 start
;;
 version)
$softcam_exe -V | head -n 1 | awk '{print $2}'
;;
 info)
  echo $softcam_info
  ;;
 values)
echo "Command line started:"
echo $softcam_exe $softcam_param
;;
 *)
echo "Usage: $0 start|stop|restart|version|info|values"
exit 1
;;
esac
exit 0

Hi,

Be also carefull that on OpenPli image the following package needs to be installed for Softcam menu to work!

Menu is on the GUI but is doing nothing until you install it:

opkg install softcam-support

So if you download a softcam that has no depency set to softcam-support it won't start.

You can test if you already have it with this command:

opkg list-installed | grep softcam-support

Pr2
