I'll probably merge the (non-solo2) drivers tonight, I'll test your solo2 patch, just drop a note on the forum when it's ready.

don't merge old commits for solo2/duo2 but http://sourceforge.n...56f38cfa76a6ec/ (driver update) is ok

and our latest test version for solo 2 is ok too : http://www.mediafire...vusolo2_usb.zip (confirmed just now)

it means kernel 3.3.8 with latest drivers works ok ;)

wait for the merge request my friend

If you look at the OE-Alliance GIT you will see that the solo2 was updated for the 3.3.8 kernel weeks ago and ViX amongst others have been using a 3.3.8 kernel image for weeks without any problems at all.

I know Vix and the oe-alliance do have everything ready weeks before OpenPLi makes it.... They are really doing the most best job here....

But where are you push requests then?

VU must be very thankfull to you as you did the job for them ;)

And by the way...

VU's manufacturer image is also a fork directly from git.opendreambox.org's enigma2 sources.... and is not based on OpenPLi at all....

And now further about guests here who are willing to help us instead of giving understatement comments please....

I already wrote above that VU is a special case. I only said that it is not difficult to understand why VU and others behave the way they behave - and repetitive negative comments will not change anything due to this.

And a community needs to bee (well) fed to be cheering - panem et circenses - this advice is now close to 2k years old, so I don't feel guilty to repeat it.

If you get a track record of having old drivers, kernels and Plugin Versions and blame the vendors or Plugin builders not to deliver commits ... then maybe you (not personally off course) are part of the problem.

But good advice is hard to take, even I often have problems taking it when I get it :D

@OpenPLi team: just a thanks for all your time and investment! I am totally happy with the OpenPli image, and more important, so is my wife!
Sure I would like *new, newer, newest* and allways as fast as possible... More important for me, and my better half, is a nice, stable image.

So take your time!

I agree. We all appreciate your hard work. We just get glad if you keep us posted about new kernel progress.

New kernel and new drivers have been commited. Just do an online update. New drivers also offer /proc/stb/video/zapmode, making them compatible with the zapping mode selection of OpenPLI - no more need for external zappingmodeselection plugin.

Issues still need to be resolved:

- USB DVB-T tuners are detected as "DVB-S, DVB-C, ATSC" multi-tuner, after enigma2 restart. Maybe some missing initialisation on enigma2 restart. They are detected correctly on STB restart.

- The problem with the remote reported as keyboard. Please OpenPLI, put some water in your wine and allow a way for a user to override automatic detection and specify the type of input (remote / keyboard)

- The problem with internal loopthrough. I personally don't care about it getting fixed (I have two seperate inputs on the two tuners), just reporting it.

- aio-grab support for chipset of VU+ Soilo2 (openvuplus git and oe-alliance git have a patch for it, I can prepare one for our aio-grab tree)

- drivers miss dst_apply, making some plugins non functional (splitscreen for example). I have reported this to VU+, but till it is fixed, which is the way to apply dst_XXX changes when dst_apply is missing?

Please add if I am missing something.

After installing the new kernel on my Vu+ Solo2 my USB Wi-Fi adapter is no longer supported/recognized.

The adapter is identified (in Windows 7) as Realtek RTL8188SU Wireless LAN 802.11n USB 2.0 Network Adapter.

It was delivered from a Swedish retailer together with the Solo 2 and was functioning well until today. I restored my backup to the pre kernel 3.3.8 version and now the adapter is OK again.

Sorry to revive this topic but it has some interesting info.

Does the new kernel from BH 3.13.5 bring anything good to the table regarding OpenPLi 3.3.8 ?

I'm not a expert. And i do use OpenPLi for many months. Just curious about this subject.

Thank you.

Hi,

newer kernel normally means for instance better support of usb devices a bit bug fixes and so on. Nothing really spectacular. The important thing is that all new driver from now on only will work with new kernel.

ciao

It seems the new kernel driver is useless for us as vu did compile it against an ancient oe.... This as far I understand this....
