Hi

I  have spent hours trying to figure out how to do this, but have got nowhere.

I want to stream from DM7020HD using latest openpli image to windows7 PC  in VLC

I cannot find the plugin I need from the download plugins section in the image, and on the net I have only found a file called - plugin-vlcplayer_oe2.0_20130101.zip

But I have no instructions. I ftp the file directory into /tmp but it didn't work. There was no ipk, so im not sure which file(s) I needed to place there..very confusing

Can someone please let me know what I need to do?

Many thanks

On PC install VLC (now is 2.0.7 last version). Then in internet browser open OpenWebinterface and there in list of programs press little TV icon.

Yes, its working now!  Thank you!

So, why all this talk of VLC plugins if you can stream using the web?

Hi,

the VLC plugin is needed for the other direction. If you have a file/stream your box cannot play then you connect with the vlcplayer to a server-computer running VLC to transcode.

And what is the best way to stream ouside LAN if I have an upload of 1Mbit/s only?

For example I have some free time at work and would like to watch some sports.

I assume I would need to use an intermediate computer with some sort of transcoding software on it but what sort of software would be recommended?

Hi,

look for Muuta (PC software to reencode) or VU+ Solo2/Duo2.

Thanks, Trial, I have googled Muuta. It seems to be a German project because most of the information I found is in German. Anyway, I will try to find something in English as well.

As regards Solo2, I haven't seen too many reliable reports as to the proper operation of transcoding outside LAN to be watched on a Windows machine (not Android) when upload is about 1 Mbit/s. I saw, however, several reports saying it does not work well.

I seem to have a problem finding Muuta streaming server exe without registering on forums.

Do you, Trial, perhaps have a genuine version of it? I would not like to download a virus or anything like that.

You can also use a program like 'Handbrake'; seems to be pretty good for transcoding.

Hi,

Solo2 works quite well with rates from 400-800KBit but the picture quality is hardly good enough for a small tablet but quite good on a smart phone.

OK, so as I understand transcoding on Solo2:

smartphone - quality quite good

tablet (Android?) - not so good but still watchable

Windows notebook/PC - ??? - does it work? How about just a small VLC window instead of full screen? Is it possible? Still bad quality?

Nobody else has any experience with that?

I seem to have a problem at one point and I don't know what it is.

When I am already here: https://localhost:10999, with the correct IP address and port number, MOVIES and BOUQUETS are showing 0. :(

Of course, neither TV nor radio services fill up on the screen.

However, when I press "open Webif" on the right-hand side of the screen, OpenWebIf normally opens up.

I assume Superuser and password can be different from the regular webinterface password?

By the way, it should not really matter that I am using ET9000, not a Dreambox, should it?

I get something like that:

Hi,

two ideas:

1. you have to reindex the box from within Muuta

2. perhaps it only works with the old Web-IF

Can anyone tell me if the latest builds contain the old webinterface too? Or is it only Open Webif?

I am especially interested in ET9000, kernel 3.8.7.
