Just want to say that transcoding works fine on OpenPLI and my Solo2. Don't say that it doesn't, it does. You just need to install enigma2-transtreamproxy-util . OpenWebIF doesn't have the extra button but this is just beautification, after all when you are on the go (the only reason I use transcoding) you don't use webif, you use some specific application for Android or IOS.

Thanks, malakudi.

I didn't know about enigma2-transtreamproxy-util. Is it available from the feed? If not, can you please post a link to it?

Well, when I am using a computer or a notebook outside my home, I would really need the extra button in OpenWebif.

I wonder if there is at least intention to upgrade the OpenWebif on OpenPLi or not.

Do I read here that there is a simple solution?

Why use web i/f on the road for the transcoded stream, then you must portforward port 80 also??

Use one m3u for each channel instead and portforward only the trancode 8002 to something nnnnn.

I do that on both notebooks and Ithings, only port nnnnn open.

It's the original, ugly "solution".

Not necessarily 80, it can be any number even above 40000. Also it is secured with login/password.

OK, but how to prepare a list of hundreds of channels manually?

Or is there a simple solution to that?

OK, Not necessarily 80, and even above 40000 you telling me how to suck eggs ??

This is not the way I solved it  (URL below) because I prefer another solution with one file each for my 148

channels, and connecting to  VPN server when using them on the road,

I presume you can use an editor.

I understand... but why are they arguing it is not working, while it works - even in the ugly way...

I think that enigma2-transtreamproxy-util is not installed automatically when installing the python plugin. I installed it manually and yes, it is on the feed.

Then the python plugin does not depend the transstreamproxy-util.... And indeed we do not include that automatically... At least good to know that even the ugly solution will work...

The Openwebif doesn't have the icon for the second stream (as mentioned elsewhere on the web)

Isn't it possible just to replace one or two files in the plugin folder for the icon to appear?

Or would some deeper interference be required?

I thing the solution the oe alliance did offer is not a nice one.

I would better see just one icon... and depending on a setting, where I suggest it should also be able to set bitrates etc from the webinterface (so you don't need plugins too) change the port while clicking on the same icon... So I think good code should be added... but to create this people and time is required...

And everything should be triggered just by checking if the downscale feature is available and not on a criteria if VU(sol/un)o2 box then....

The transstreamproxy was kicked out of the feed because it either didn't compile or the source was removed or both, and thereby cause the image not to build.

And that is why the transcoding parameters need to be passed as part of the url.

Indeed Eric.... but behind the button you should have those parameters... but somewhere else you should be able to set "defaults...." for the web interface....

That's is nice but not really required, one could make bookmarks with the url's including serviceref and transcoding parameters. The webif could have it's own configurable defaults, which it would append to the streaming url.

Anyway, url get parameters need to be decoded and passed on to the streaming functionality inside enigma, which is a bit cumbersome.

Oh yeah, it would be a nice and smooth solution but, as you said, it requires somebody's involvement and a lot of time, which can take weeks, as I understand.

However, in the meantime, before you, OpenPLi, come up with such an elegant solution, it would really be awesome if a temporary solution borrowed from OE-Alliance or anywhere else were used so that transcoding could easily be used on OpenPLi.

I have several questions in order to sum up our discussion and help those who would like to use transcoding feature on Solo2 with OpenPLi image.

I just hope this situation is only temporary and will be solved by OpenPLi within weeks to come.

Do I understand correctly that we need to take the following steps for transcoding to work on OpenPLi:

- install the latest 3.0 or 4.0 image and TranscodingSetup plugin is already there (or not?); if not, where to get hold of a working version?
- install enigma2-transtreamproxy-util manually from the feed (however, Erik says it's not in the feed and there are some problems mentioned in this topic: http://openpli.org/f...ng-for-vusolo2/),
- possibly create a playlist for VLC to use (or install a different version of OpenWebif (but it probably may not work on OpenPLi out-of-the-box)

Can somebody please confirm this could be a temporary solution for transcoding on OpenPLi? malakudi? Erik Slagter?

Thanks.
