Hello to everyone from greece!

I use an octagon sf8 hd with latest openpli and want to install a crypto pc50a. When installing crypto on my pc is recognised as realtek dvb-t device so i suppose it uses realtek 2832 chipset. I installed drivers for realtek 2832 but i can't see any dvb-t tuner on my receiver. Is there anything else i should do to make it work?

Can you check follow

Start box up and when it's starts press usb device in the box.

What does commando "dmesg" show.

The last 10/20 lines are only important this shows the connection and give you probably an error messages.

Lefteris733, OpenPLi is not support officialy this receiver.

So the image you are using is OpenPLi based...

Anyway here are the commands to install the missing kernel modules for your dvb-t stick.

opkg install kernel-module-rtl2832
opkg install kernel-module-dvb-usb-rtl2832

Wavefield T90: 0.8W - 1.9E - 4.8E - 13E - 16E - 19.2E - 23.5E - 26E - 33E - 39E - 42E - 45E on EMP Centauri DiseqC 16/1

I downloaded firmware from openpli for my receiver (same as xp1000) so i believe that it is supported.

Thank you for your help the receiver found the stick now, but when scanning can't find any channels.

Anything i can do?

The fact that someone made a box that happens to run an image we create for another box doesn't say we will support the box.

Al this illegal use of OpenPLi costs us a lot of money (as those images use our feeds, our server and bandwidth requirements have been going through the roof lately).

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

And even if the receiver was supported, that doesn't mean we guarantee that every USB device you buy will work with it, that is not meant by "supported".

I don't read PM -> if you have something to ask or to report, do it in the forum so others can benefit. I don't take freelance jobs.
Ik lees geen PM -> als je iets te vragen of te melden hebt, doe het op het forum, zodat anderen er ook wat aan hebben.

I never said that...

And i thought that since octagon is a well known company and not a cheap-clone manufacturer the receiver is supported by your team since i find suitable software in your download area.Maybe i am wrong i do not insist. But it was not of my knowledge that this software was not originaly intended to be used for this receiver.

Maybe the fact that in openvix team they suggest their software for both the octagon/max receivers made me think something wrong.

Now that my usb dvb-t device works but can't find any channel, is there anything i can do?

Make sure that you are using correct DVB-T frequencies (eg Europe, Middle East, Africa DVB-T Frequencies should be ok for Greece).

PS. Also make sure that DVB-T stick is working, plug it into a Windows machine, scan for channels and zap to channels. If this is not working on Windows throw the stick away. I've spend several hours with "dead" DVB-T tuners..

To make it very clear: "Supported" for us means "We have that hardware, and we test the software we produce on it. And if there is an issue, we have to hardware to reproduce it".

So even if an image for box A works on box B, it's still not a tested combination, hence the "no support". We have been chasing too many ghosts over the last 10 years, with issues that turned out to be hardware related.
