Hi there.
I've tried to seach in the forum for this topic but I've not found anything useful.

I've just bought a Clarke Tech ET9100 and I wish to buy an USB DVB-T stick.

There is a comprehensive list of chipsets supported by PLI ?
Or someone can suggest me a chipset/model/brand to buy ?

In an old box I've found an USB DVB-T stick: I've forgotten to have it !
Well, it's a PINNACLE SYSTEM PCTV 330e
It's a dual analog + DVB-T stick.

lsusb:
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 2304:0226 Pinnacle Systems, Inc. PCTV 330e
Obviously I'm interested only in DVB-T section. I don't need the "analog TV": in my area there are no more old terrestrial analog TV channels.

Below is the kernel log after inserted in my Ubuntu 11.04 box.

Please, someone can tell me if it work in my CT ET9000 or I need to buy a new DVB-T USB stick (which chipset ?) ?

Many thanks in advance.

This USB stick use the kernel module kernel/drivers/media/video/em28xx/em28xx-dvb.ko
so em28xx-dvb.ko IS NOT available/compiled in OpenPLI ?

Other images used in ET9000 (based on DMM code and not with OpenPLI code) looks to work with this DVB-T USB adapter.
Can you give me more detail about the "not working" state of this device ?

As taykun345 said, probably that stick will not work on the et9000. I have 2 em28xx sticks and tried all the available images with no success. At best, the sticks are recognized, the driver loads correctly and you can start a channel scan, but no channel is found. If you load a channel list tuned with a working stick, the em28xx will not be able to tune any channel anyway.
One of the 2 em28xx-dvb sticks I tried is a Terratec Cinergy Hybrid T USB XS, which is based on the Empiatech EM2880 USB bridge and the Xceive XC3028 demodulator as yours. Maybe the only difference is in the demodulator (my stick as a Zarlink ZL10353).
Anyway, try for yourself and see what you get.
By the way, if you want to use the em28xx-dvb driver in the new OpenPli 2.1 based on the 2.6.31 kernel you have to patch the current driver:
remove the reference to em28xx-register-i2c-ir in line 564 of file em28xx-i2c.c
(all the "-" should be underscores) and recompile the driver.
This is causing a "missing symbol" error when you modprobe the driver (this only affects kernel 2.6.31). Of course, this will not fix the main problem of the driver (it cannot tune any channel) but will make you able to load it.
Anyway, this problem tells you that nobody is using any em28xx board on OpenPli 2.1 with an et9000 ;-)

Thank you very much for your infos.
BTW my old Pinnacle 330e is NOT HD compliant, so I will buy a new one.

I've found the Avermedia 835 (AverTv Volar HD chipset AF9035 http://www.avermedia...ail.aspx?Id=508 ) about 22€
Is it working with OpenPLI kernel 2.6.18 and newer kernel 2.6.31 ?

Since the USB sticks are just tuners, you do not need any specific support for HD. The stick will just pass the transport stream to the decoder, so it makes no difference if the channel is HD or SD.Anyway, your Pinnacle will only work on a PC.

Avermedia sticks should work fine. I'm currently using an 867 in my ET9000 with OpenPli 2.1. The kernel version makes no difference, since the driver used in the old kernel 2.6.18 are exactly the same (from the OpenEmbedded repository).

I guess you will need to install files manually? I would suggest that you buy Nova-T stick, this one will 100% work.

af9013 is installed by the enigma2-plugin-drivers-dvb-usb-af9015 meta file (which you see in your plugin install screen)

edit: ignore this, you were asking for af9035, not af9013

Which version of OpenPLì ?? OpenPli has changed kernel (newer 2.6.31) and 9035.ko kernel module is not ready yet (I think).
Perhaps you have older Openpli with older kernel 2.6.18 and for this kernel version are available many driver for USB DTT
For 2.6.31 actually there are driver only for 9013/9015 and dib0700 chipset

The proof :
I've tried to connect my Avermedia to CT9100. Nothing happen

My system is OpenPli 2011-10-11
root@et9x00:~# uname -a

So it's available in the feed, but it's not installed?

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

Many answers to your question can be found in our new and improved wiki.

That's the issue. On OpenPli, there is no DTT installer plugin (as there is for example in the SifTeam image), nor there is any auto-install function, so you have to manually install the driver you need, and you have to manually create a loader file in /etc/modutils/, and then, after a reboot, you can enjoy your DTT tuner. The first step is:opkg install v4l-dvb-module-dvb-usb-af9035then create a file in /etc/modutils/ with a reference to the newly installed module:echo af9035 > /etc/modutils/usbaf9035(insert the exact name of the new module, I'm not sure it is simply "af9035")then update the modules:update-modulesfinally, reboot:reboot

OT: Why it's so hard to insert special characters like an underscore on the new forum?
I can not even start a new line without strange sequences of symbols :-(
It's really hard to make a readable post...

I think you can skip the modutils stuff, v4l-dvb-usb-* automatically get a modutils file.
