I think (but it has been more than 3 years ago for me) that we use the same enigma binary in both image flavours.

Tried with win's VLC 2.0.3 on my 7020s with movieplayer 1.0.3 and all works well. Both code is same.
Could you debug it ?

You can try rename filename to several chars only and make minimal path... and uncheck T/L there in Options and select audio/sub as numbers of track => sout string will be shorter

it seems, string is out of range. I will saw on it.

Here are files for VLC plugin for VLC 2.x - unpack and replace it ( /usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/VLCPlayer ) , then restart enigma2.

There in settings for server you choose, if si VLC <2 or not.

Thank you very much for your help!!

Use version < 2.0.4. I think, there is bug in VLC again :( ( Does not work for VLC under E2 too )

When you try test streaming a file manualy from VLC (not via box) with profile "Video - MPEG2 + MPGA (TS)" and you check "display localy", you can see, you get same error message in VLC as for streaming from box - "VLC could not open the encoder".
Kdo nic nedělá, nic nezkazí!

Set "rate control buffer size" there in VLC's advanced options (All) to nonzero value. In older version was there 1835008. ( F.eg 200000 - less delay in streaming, but wrong quality )

write in ALL to "search" text: rate control buffer size
you will get to FFmpeg and there is this options
