Would it be possible in OpenPLi to have different preferred tuners for recording and viewing?

Well in my case i've got lots of satellites on fixed lnb's (t90) on tuner A, so I want to keep that tuner for viewing as zapping is very fast. But if the box comes out of standby it monopolises that tuner and I am left using a tuner that can take up to 60 seconds to zap between satellites due to the other tuners being motorized.

Usually when correctly configured it will select the tuner with the less satellites available for recordings.

Yes I know that. My config is tuner A preferred, 14 fixed lnbs; tuner B, 31 sats motorized; tuner C, 61 sats motorized; tuner D, 1 sat, fixed. I want to use tuner A for viewing and tuner D for recording. That works par of the time if I'm viewing but not if the box is recording from standby.

Usually when correctly configured

The other option is have an option that the recording can go to any tuner and the preferred tuner last.

If start recording during live tv (transponder  record service the same as the viewing)-->tuner is same.

There are lots of ways to stop that like be on a different channel and start the recording from the EPG. The problem is when the box comes out of standby to do a recording.

Anyway the point is I've got one tuner set up specifically for fast zapping and I don't want that tuner tied up with recordings.

I think if you add this option, it will completely change the timer conflict check and not only.

TBH, I can't see how that can be true because the box doesn't know at the time the timer is set what tuner might be in use tomorrow for viewing.

Conflict management indeed can't and hence doesn't take live-viewing into account.
The setting 'recording takes precedence' takes care of that.

tuner A preferred viewing.

tuner B preferred recording.

If start recording during live tv(tuner A) and transponder  record service the same as the viewing-->ZAP to tuner B.

Illogical...

I really don't understand what you are talking about. That is nothing to do with what I am asking. If you start a recording on the same service as viewing or the same transponder that is not going to active another tuner. All I am asking is that when the box comes out of standby to start a recording that it doesn't grab my preferred tuner.

I have that problem with you. ;)

I'm still trying to understand what would be so special about a tuner that you would want to prefer it.

I currently have 3 tuners active, and I couldn't care less which is being used by Enigma for what...

Currently in use: VU+ Duo 4K (2xFBC S2), VU+ Solo 4K (1xFBC S2), uClan Usytm 4K Pro (S2+T2), Octagon SF8008 (S2+T2), Zgemma H9.2H (S2+T2)

Due to my bad health, I will not be very active at times and may be slow to respond. I will not read the forum or PM on a regular basis.

I've already explained that. My preferred tuner is 14 fixed LNBs. That means fast zapping between satellites. Seeing as quality switches to do this properly cost about 250€ per tuner I want to be able to use that tuner all the time and not have it tied up on a recording.

Ah, overlooked that.

For a recording, enigma should pick the tuner with the least possibilities. Which in your case should be D,A,B,C assuming the orbital you record from is on all 4. Are you saying this selection process works when the box is on, but not if the box is in stand-by?

A is preferred, so order is ADBC. If I am already viewing, normally I am using tuner A, so recording will start on tuner D, (assuming the recording is available on that tuner).

If I'm using D, B or C recording will start on A (not desired because this ties up my preferred viewing tuner).

If the box comes out of standby to record, the recording uses tuner A, (which again means I can't).

BTW, another reason for a preferred tuner for recordings is so it doesn't tie up a tuner that has special features. For example some receivers don't have blind scan on all tuners, so if possible always start a recording on the tuner that doesn't have that feature. As this requires knowledge of the specific hardware configuration which only the user would know it would be handy for the user to be able to set this manually.

Also, let's say I want to watch something in half an hour's time that is only available on one tuner I don't want a recording to start on that tuner in the mean time, so when I set the timer it would be nice if I could select a preferred tuner for that recording.
