“C” library update causes massive package updates

For today’s build we have upgraded the “C” library. Since this is used in virtually every component of the image, it will cause an update of over 300 packages.

Because this includes the packages for network services, ssh and telnet, upgrading via the commandline is not an option, since during the update process, you will loose all network connectivity.

When updating via the GUI, make sure to choose the “update offline and reboot” option. After the reboot, run the update again, until there are no more updated packages left.

Given the time this interactive update takes, it is advised to make (sure you have) a settings backup, and flash today’s image. It will be quicker.
